Tianda has a big vision for the long-term – a birthing centre for Coffs Harbour. While she works towards this mission she is offering hypnobirthing courses to educate, empower & inspire women & their birth partners to not only look at birth differently but to experience a beautiful birth of their own.
What is North Coast Hypnobirthing?
North Coast Hypnobirthing is Coffs Harbour’s only locally owned and operated hypnobirthing practice.
We offer the accredited Hypnobirthing Australia course to couples in an around our region and love to show future mothers that childbirth does not have to be something to fear. Preparing women and their birth partners with the confidence, knowledge and the tools they need to have a beautiful birth.
Meeting and working with women, watching their transformation from fear to fearless, seeing their birth partner stand by them with confidence and admiration and being a part of their amazing birth story is one of the most rewarding and fabulous roles I could hope to play in life.
What’s your backstory?
My name is Tianda, I’m a wife, mother and childbirth educator. I am the creator of North Coast Hypnobirthing and I am PASSIONATE about birth. This journey started for me when I was pregnant with my first child. As the morning sickness wore off, the reality that my baby was not going to stay in my belly forever started to sink in and it SCARED ME – BIG TIME!
Why was I so scared of birth? Why is it that something women have been doing for billions of years so frightening for so many modern day women?
It was those questions which led me to hypnobirthing and after experiencing it first hand I knew that this powerful knowledge needed to be available for the women in our community.
Where are you up to now?
Right now we are offering hypnobirthing courses to educate, empower & inspire women & their birth partners to not only look at birth differently but to experience a beautiful birth of their own.
I am in the process of putting together a shorter, affordable childbirth education course or birthing workshop for our community to introduce them to the philosophy of positive birth in the near future.
I have also recently written an e-handbook: Birth – the smarter way, as a light hearted & informative introduction to gentle, positive, natural birth and how childbirth education can help achieve it.
I believe hypnobirthing is the key to changing birth in our community and whilst the hypno part of hypnobirthing conjures up much mysticism I can promise there’s no smoke & mirrors involved.

What’s the vision?
The ultimate dream for our business is to create a birthing centre for Coffs Harbour. A home away from home to birth, where pregnancy and birth are normal, natural events in the life of a woman and her family.
One of the first steps is to bring to our community a new way of looking at birth. To change the perception that birth is this “awful condition” women have to endure in order to have a baby. It isn’t.
The latest scientific research is starting to link the way babies are born with health in later life, particularly the increased risk of children developing certain immune-related conditions, including asthma, type 1 diabetes, celiac disease, obesity, cardio-vascular diseases, mental health disorders and even some cancers. In the scientists’ view, if we can get the seeding of the baby’s microbiome right at birth, this could make a massive difference to the baby’s health for the rest of its life.
Consequently, the way we birth is of extreme importance for global health and potentially, for the future of mankind!
More about this ground breaking research will be revealed when I host a premier of the movie “Microbirth” on the 20th of September this year.
What are you looking for from the public to get your project moving?
I don’t know. I’m hoping you can tell me…
The big vision of the birthing centre is the long-term dream so I would love to connect with people and organisations that support this vision.
In the short-term I have to admit I have not run any kind of event like the premiere I am planning – so I would love to work with someone who can help me make the screening of “Microbirth” in September a spectacular success. I would like it to be huge. I would like every health professional to be talking about this research and encouraging women to have more natural normal births. In summary – I have a date and beyond that I will need direction and help with the promotional strategy.
I hope I’ve inspired you and shown you the importance of positive birth and how it can make a huge impact on our community and I hope in return some of you will have some resources, networking opportunities and ideas to help me along with my dreams.
